Thanks Eddie, Hmmm, I think your theory certainly explains the cracks in the brittle brass floats. In regards to getting new ones though, I've allready called Nissan and they reckon there are none in Australia. Shit!

Thomas,
I believe the cracks are caused by the constant heat related presssure
changes inside the float. This sort of inflates and deflates it like a
balloon (well not visibly but you get the idea) which eventually causes
stress fractures. I had exactly the same problem on my 710 SSS. I ordered
new floats from Nissan which turned out to be plastic rather than brass so
the problem should never happen again.
