Alan,   That's right, usually JY parts last 5 minutes or 15 years. Make sure that you check the brushes etc on the alternator if the VR has failed. If you have a wreckers close by you can use the units from a 1200 (imported), 240K or 240C as they're all the same and will probably cost you $5.
