Rob, Not a good idea, for the exact reason that you posted. This problem happens occasionally and the best method is to rock the car in 2nd gear or do as Alan did - they usually will crack apart pretty easily.

Same here, repeated condensation and drying glued it to the flywheel. Maybe propping the clutch open with a length of wood would be advisable if leaving the car stationary for a long time. I don't know how the diaphragm (pressure plate) would go, it may lose some spring tension?
