Jim,
With a
Bosch IR alternator you need only two of those wires - i.e. the yellow one
which is the Indicator which connects to the White/red wire at the
connector in question and the Earth which is Black. You disconnect the external
regulator and connect the Yellow wire to the white/red wire at that connector.
If you are going to use the Hitachi IR alternator then you need to keep more
wires as it uses a Field and a Sense wire and an Earth as the IR operates
differently to the Bosch. Also on the SR20, you need the Ignition feed
(Blue/white) for a variety of things from memory, so you keep the standard
wiring for the conversion. The other thing that's advisable, is to upgrade the
Bat wire from the alternator to the starter or add another wire as most ppl do
(same result no problems) as the capacity of the stock wire is around 40 amps
and then after that she glows nicely in the dark.
regards
Terry

The connector with the yellow wire, blue/white wire, black/white wire and so on. From reg to alternator. Can this be removed? I have my harness on the floor in front of me and the wires don't seem to be needed any more with the bosch 60amp alt or with the sr20 i intend to put in.
any ideas?
