There's no mistaking it, definitely lifter noise this one and RB's seem to all do it from very soon after new from what I'm told. 20 seconds after it's started it's purring like a kitten. I read that Nissan list the life expectancy of a RB at 400K ks, this one only has 112k ks - I'm more worried about the timing belt at this point in time as I can't find a replacement entry at the 100k service in the log book. Guess I'm gonna learn some new skills with this engine. Importance: High IMO lifter noise can be hard to distinguish from big end bearing noise. Speaking of tick noises, does the SR20 engine make the lifter racket that my RB30 makes just after a cold start-up first thing especially now the mornings here are a tad cooler.
