He had put the car in for a service that day....and the mechanics (at a dealership!) put the wrong filter on it - which had popped off. Went to Nissan and bought a genuine filter. Except they sold me one for a S14 not a S13 (N13 SR20) or something. Anyhow, different thread and it fell off while my wife was driving.
