The RB noise is because the lifters get gummy and a bit worn. They don't hold their oil so they rattle. 
Don't worry Terry they are good for another 200,000 km's yet.

Speaking of tick noises, does the SR20 engine make the lifter racket that my RB30 makes just after a cold start-up first thing especially now the mornings here are a tad cooler. I've stuck Nulon in it as the Skyline/VL ppl both told me to do which has made a bit of a difference but every other day makes a hell of a noise on the first start.
