Andrew,

I've found over the years that always having the "W" block with SSS L18
engines is not a cut 7 dried rule i.e. not all early ones had W blocks,
actually most Oz ones didn't but most of them up until 74/5ish has steel
cranks and flat top pistons, but from Japan I've just about any combination
that you can think of. I haven't even seen an engine number difference
either so for mine it's always been a bit of a lottery - we used to get the
body plate if it was still on an Aussie SSS wreck.

The L18sss block should have a w at the end of the serial number.Internally
