I think i might have found my problem...

when i first got the block oringed, i gave the engineer a ACL Z20 gasket, and just before i looked at the ACL product number listing and they have the same number for Z20 and Z22....

so im thinking i got the block oringed with a Z22 87mm gasket.....
after the first gasket blew i switched to unsing Stuart Wilkins Z18/Z20 85mm gaskets....

So i thinking of giving the ACL Z20/Z22 gasket another go and see if it blows ??

If the block has been O' ringed correctly its shouldn't push the gasket into
the chamber. The O ring is only there to crush into the gasket about 10 - 15
thous and support the gasket not bite in like a clamp. If it pushing the
gasket into the chamber then it has been done incorrectly. Normally when I
do an O ring the inner part of the groove (cylinder side sits about 0.010"
behind the outer part of the fire ring so the wire pushes lightly against
the outer part of the fire ring and the wire only protrudes 15 thous from
the block upper surface.
I think using a Z22 gasket is only a bandaid solution as the wire would then
be closer to the inner surface of the fire ring.??? This would probably
increase the problem.

Would it be possible to use a Z22 head gasket on a Z18ET?

I keep blowing head gaskets due to the fact that the o-rings in the blcok
are sqeezing the metal rings on the Z18/Z20 gaskets into the cylinder just
enough for the piston to hit it and cause water leaking into the chamber.

Seeing as the Z22 is only 1mm larger in diametre than the Z20 gasket, I was
thinking using a Z22 gasket and this just might be enough so it wont blow?

I dont really want to have to rip the whole block out and get the o-rings
taken out :/
