Heath,
I use them successfully with standard gaskets if the "O" ring is placed
carefully behind the fire ring as support.

I also use with metal head gaskets as well, both steel laminated and
annealed copper.

i thought orings was used in conjuction with a all metal gasket, stainless
or copper,

you can't pull out the o-rings by yourself, and use a monotorque.
do you have a reciever groove in the head?
