Geezus 600hp+...but he paid a pretty price for that it sounds. Thanks for the update, I should not be satisfied then with my paltry 180HP ATW!!

Hi Mark,

I went to the nats today. There were a couple of 4s there, but as you
would expect mostly 8s. Spend most of the day in the dyno room, a
Bluebird with an FJ20 pulled 617hp (or 612? not sure) at the rears on
his second run, but then dies when it idled down. When it cooled down
the motor wouldnt turn over and the sparkplugs wouldnt come out - sounds
major! While I was in the room I saw 2 1600s hit the dyno, the lowest
figure I saw from a 4 was ~380hp, all FJs. During that time there were
only a handful of 8s that beat those sort of figures. Didnt really stop
the "shitbox 4 cylinder" and "stupid little buzzbox" comments.

Can't say i saw too many Dattos about other than a 200b or two and nice
Z at Coffs Hbr. Made sure to leave the pacific hwy for some scenic
detours (Forster, Great Lakes, Crescent head, Nambucca Heads and then
the Port Macquarie -> Ocean rd via Laurieton on the return)
Passed some Nats entrants on trailers today on their way down the Hume
to Nats. I haven't been for some years but am curious as to what level
of 4cyl take part as I expect V8 dominate?
