Good work Zac.At least you didnt spend half the night under the car
changing
axles and diffs. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Zac Campbell" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, February 06, 2005 8:31 AM Subject: Re: 240k halfshafts
After all that, I didn't even break the diff!! I was prepared with all the spares in the boot of my other car! :) I ran a few 14.5s, the best being 14.569 at 97.99mph. I suffered a bit of a problem with fuel surge later when the tank got down to 1/4. I'd experienced it on the street briefly but you drive it so much harder at the strip, these problems surface. The problem was the low pressure pump dropping out and the surge tank running dry. It took me until the end of the night to decide to pull the terminals off the low pressure pump, squeeze them and then force them back on. Now it will probably be fine but I wasted my last two runs of the night. On one run I got to the 330' in 6.0 but when i hit third it coughed and spluttered and surged. I crossed over the line in 15.1 :(
cheers! zac

Zac,
The strongest shafts we've found were in the C210 Skyline - same type
of
shaft as the 240K but they have much bigger unis - never busted either
a
C210 diff or shaft with the FJ (touch wood). Done some real bad things
to
R160 stuff though.

haha, I wont be going anywhere near a 12 but that isn't very
reassuring!
I've got a few of the shafts out, some are different lengths. I'll
take
them all and if I have to change a diff at the track I'll just hope
for
the best - that i have a shaft that will fit.

I agree with Zac, I completed 1 run with my original shafts..... 12.005 @ 113 mph, 1.7 60'....... then I let the tyre pressure down trying to get traction and snapped both the shaft in the diff....
Hoping for a low 11 when the R200's in there!

The 1600 shafts have the seperate stubs that go int the diff with the 4 bolts and the 240k have the stub off the uni joint. The 1600 shafts will
fit
using the r180 diff but you need to cut back the steel dust
covers.Ive
found
the 1600 shaft to be slightly stronger than the 240 shaft.Ive never completed a pass at the drags using the 240k shaft as they break around
the
uni at the diff end.I have completed the odd pass with the 1600
shaft.

Hi ozdatters, I have a stack of halfshafts in the shed as spares but I'd like to know how to tell the difference between a 1600 shaft and a 240k shaft. If I were to fit a 240k R180, I would need the 240k shafts too? I presume the 240k shafts are a bit shorter in length.
cheers.
