Ok. Mate did his that way, years ago. That was our/his understanding when it was done.   He left sump at front, if I remember right. Cutting up xmambers generally is not the done thing in OZ. The guides for the control arm retaining pins on the 1600 are tapered so they also have to be ground out and re-welded in the correct way and you have to be careful that they are welded back in dead straight. That all there is too it for a FJ20/1600 xmemeber. In the popular off the shelf kits, I am pretty sure that they just ground off the washers that hold the control arm studs in place then moved the stud around to the opposite side and rewelded it in place. Then refit it to the car and LCAs.
