No you wont, you leave the top part of the sump as it is, then measure
about a inch down from the top, and cut it all the way round, rotate it
and weld it back on.

I'll get a picture to illustrate how mine was done when the weather
clears up here.

Martin

Mohit,
An alternative to reversing the crossmember is cutting and
rewelding the sump + modifying the oil pickup.

I did this on my fj20et 180bsss, the original crossmember stays in place
and you can use the standard fj20 mounts, bolts straight in to a 510 if
you reverse the sump.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Martin

That's right Zac. Rick, the US boys do cutting etc for backyard VH30E
conversions, the Experiment Engineering kit is done exactly the way that
the
Stu Wilkins kit is done here. Cutting up xmambers generally is not the
done
thing in OZ. The guides for the control arm retaining pins on the 1600
are
tapered so they also have to be ground out and re-welded in the correct
way
and you have to be careful that they are welded back in dead straight.
That
all there is too it for a FJ20/1600 xmemeber.

Regards,
Terry

Are you sure about that Rick? I've never seen it done like that. In the
popular off the shelf kits, I am pretty sure that they just ground off
the washers that hold the control arm studs in place then moved the stud
around
to the opposite side and rewelded it in place. Then refit it to the car
and
LCAs.

Mohit, do you have Datsun 810 there?
