i have never but my dad put one in the car that is now my paddic basher. i think its a 240k 1

OK, I think I've got some of the picture now. I never new that a 720 ever
had a R180 diff with side axles, all the ones that I've pulled are like
240K/C210 diffs i.e. unbolt outer uni flanges and then just slide the 1/2
shafts out of either side of the diff.

Have you ever fitted a R180 diff to a 1600 before?

damn i need a digi camera, yeah that is what i have, its a slide in shaft
which has a bolt hole thru centre, which u bolt the drive shaft to, same as
an r160, just i used that slide in bit on the r180, but cause the 180 is a
bigger diff that the 160, those 160 slide in spline shaft is to short for
the 180 diff.
