I suppose so but we are spread out in a thin line along the USA border so not much country to cover when it comes down to it. Basically, it is profit driven and there is not enough competition and the market will bear a higher amount so they take it. Not too bad unless one wants modern technology like an iphone then it becomes expensive.
I wonder about Scandinavia as well. I believe I recall seeing that most folks in one of the Scandinavian countries had dropped their land lines and were relying solely on cell phones. Well, there is a good reason for wireless to be more expensive in Canada than USA: More land, less customers. I wouldn't be surprised to find that cell phones are one of the rare items that are cheaper in Europe than here.
