Hehe, got this month's Car and Driver this weekend. Started browsing this morning and what do I see but an 80' 300SD. What the heck is this? Apparently it's the Diesel Beater contest. They each bought a diesel for a max of $1500 and ended up with a Maxima, an Olds and the 300SD. Then headed off from Michigan to California. And all made it! Nothing really TOO noteworthy in it, but it was rather interesting to read. Especially since the guy in the Benz didn't want to make the trip so just tried to keep it to the floor to kill it, but it wouldn't die. (:
