Oh, THAT was the other thing that sounded off.. He said he was cruising
around 80-90MPH and at around 4100RPM's and that was at just about
redline.. I thought we were just discussing the redline being at 5K, which
would still be a ways off in my mind...
In 4th gear the engine will never reach the redline on a flat course.
Max speed would be about 4300-4400 rpm (it can go faster in 3rd or lower
gears) which is were it develops max power. The early 617.95 engines
were not quite as powerful as the later ones (starting in 1980-81).
