In addition to what has already been mentioned, the w116 300SDs used the earlier AirResearch turbo units. I believe AirResearch was later purchased by Garrett, but don't know that for fact.


The different turbos had NO effect on power. All were able to deliver about double the boost required and power was limited by thermal considerations - NOT by turbo limitations!
