I would be in favor of a screen saver version as long as it can:
a) run in the non-screen saver background (as it currently does)
b) have the screen saver option disabled
c) have same pretty screen accessible via menu for us geeks to check periodically
 
So us geeks can run it faster and mainstream users can watch pretty colors.

Probably we would get more participants if we had a screen saver version.
