There's no need to remove the crank sensor anyhow. The 1995 ECU doesn't know what to do with it, so you can just leave it unplugged. The basic rule on engine swaps is to use the existing electronics and just keep the bits made out of metal. Engines available to swap? A few Proteges, the Escort GT and a 1995-97 (ish) Kia Sephia. Keep in mind these may not be identical to a Miata engine, with different crankshaft, piston and cam specs. You'll have to change over the oil pan and dipstick, and plug the FWD dipstick hole in the oil pump. If you use the FWD head, you'll have to pull the freeze plug out of the front coolant passage - definitely check to make sure the holes are drilled and tapped to bolt the thermostat neck in place. Or just do a coolant reroute.

The car can't move much without a Cam Angle Sensor. Either way, you're talking about the little magnet that sends pulses when the teeth behind the main crank pulley go by. -Bryan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: ...removed the 1997's cam angle sensor dohickey...
