That's more or less the trend I was getting at.  ~$1000 for a used  motor 
with 50k on it when a crate motor runs how much these days (I remember  someone 
telling me years ago $1500-1600, probably closer to $1800-2000 now)?  Yes, 
things get expensive when they are rare and desired.  With all  the Miatas 
produced though, I don't think we are anywhere near the "rare"  stage.



Crate engines are more like $2500 these days at the  dealer.
