Wally,

If the relay isn't stuck then T2 in the MAP sensor should be checked for a
short. It's an NPN transistor that can fail shorted or open (mine failed
open). It should have been a PNP which always fail open (run-on safety
issue).

The relay has two separate coils. One is driven by the starter switch and
the other by the AFM (MAP sensor box in your case). Start by unplugging the
MAP sensor box and see if that stops the pump.

Subject: Fuel pump prime - not stopping?

92 Link ECU car, when you key on normally the fuel pump runs for maybe 3-4
seconds, then stops until you start the car. Just before the rear/tranny
munch-fst, the Sub started not stopping.. i.e. I key on and the fuel pump
runs and runs and runs.

What would cause this? I can't think of any electrical/sensor/programming
changes that happened, so what are the triggers to tell it to stop priming?

Wallyman

p.s. the car runs, 47 days without it really sucked!! Replacement tranny is
good to go (fairly smooth and quiet), 4.10 rear end with the torsen swapped
in is silent... now to tackle the insanely long list of problems that need
to be fixed, starting with the fuel pump issue.
