Yes what Chad said is exactly correct (Again, assuming the chassis is isolated). No smoke leaks. Why are you adding a ground? [I did have a mono Heath Kit tube amp my dad built until it died rather spectacularly. I even know how a tube works without having to look it up, but I don't know the finer points of tube amps. NPC To my understanding, the ground wire is just an alternate path to neutral, to prevent the chassis fro becoming electrified. If the chassis is electrically isolated, you should be able to tie the ground wire to it with no ill effects, and should a problem occur making the hot line connect to the chassis, it will trip the breaker.
