PS, in your last picture, higher offset would have been your friend. Bill Cardell TurboDog's Dad www.flyinmiata.com www.fmwestfield.com Sales 1-800-359-6957 Tech 970-464-5600 Before you call, check out http://www.flyinmiata.com/FAQ/

You guys must not be using as much bump travel as I am. Pictures of my inner fender rub marks with 225/50/15 mounted with 30 offset. no fender lip rub with rolled fenders but the top of the fender well rubs enough I wouldnt want to go any bigger diameter both front and rear. These tires ar 23.8" in diameter, 225/40/16 are smaller at 23.1" stock diameter is more like 22.7. Elvis will have 25" diameter tires. My suspension has 550# front 350# rear revalved Koni Yellow and custom made shock tops that are made from NB mounts but have more bump travel than other NB shock top conversions because they utilize sherical ball setup rather than rubber bumpers and washers to secure the the top of the shock rod. I've been running 225/40-16 tires on my lowered '92 for years with no rubbing or other problems. The wheel offset is either 43 or 45, I can't recall which at the moment. Wow when I put the 225/50/15 tires on I have rub marks on the top of the inner fender both front and rear rubber to metal at full bump. Id have to loose bump travel or tub the fenders front and rear to go any bigger diameter tires rolling the lips doesn't help that. Maybe my custom shock tops give more bump travel than anybody else or something. Its a 90 with Koni sports and custom spherical ball shock tops made from NB tops it has more bump travel than Fat Cat. The car hasn't been back on the suspension with this setup yet, I'm still in the middle of completing the work. Tire sizes are 235/45-17 front, 255/40-17 rear, on +45mm wheels. I've got the springs off so we can run the suspension through the full range of travel. All four fenders have been rolled but not pulled out much. On the right rear, I had to cut out part of the battery box and move it back to clear the tire. Left rear was almost perfect out of the box. We still have some interference between the sway bar and tire in the front when we try to wind on some steering lock. In the other direction, the tire goes into the control arm just barely at maximum lock. I suspect that with an MSM steering rack the latter problem would be solved. I'm going to see how it drives right now, then probably do some work to increase the sway bar clearance. Thanks to the V8 conversion, Elvis' front sway is further forward and this is not ideal for tire clearance. Bill and Keith, What all did you guys do to fit those massive meats under the fenders? I know when I threw the 245\40\17 on 17x8 with +36mm offset, I had to pull the fenders out ... but I still have rubbing issues with the Aero kit's side skirts ... and the setup that Elvis has is almost 8mm bigger in diameter. Just wondering if your setup rubs against body while taking corners or driving through lil potholes? 245\35\17 tires are kinda rare to come by cause Goodyear stopped making em. :-( The fronts on mine are 215\45\17 on 17x7 with +40mm offset and I don't really have any rubbing issues, just the rears are being a PITA. -Thuwa ________________________________ _______________________________________________ Miatapower mailing list [email protected] http://list.miatapower.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/miatapower ________________________________ _______________________________________________ Miatapower mailing list [email protected] http://list.miatapower.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/miatapower
