You should google the subject, remove your mechanism, clean and lube everything, and replace. The motors rarely (in my experience) go out, but the tracks and things get dirty and stiff. If you do it before it breaks the cable then you don't have to buy a new ($250) or used ($75) mechanism. If you buy a used mechanism you will still need to remove, clean, lube, and replace everything. If you buy new you still have to remove and replace. Save yourself some $ and aggravation and fix it while you still can. It is possible to change the cables but by the time you're don't you'll probably wish you'd spent the money on a new or used mechanism.
