name on his contract as “Holly.” Buddy will adopt the misspelling as

1959 – Johnny Cash appears on The Ed Sullivan Show for the first and
only time, performing his hit single “Don't Take Your Guns To Town.”
1960 – The "payola" hearings begin in Washington, D.C.
1962 – Mary Wells releases her single, “The One Who Really Loves You”
b/w “I’m Gonna Stay” on Motown.
1963 – The Four Tops sign with Motown.
1964 – On The Beatles’ first full day in New York City, John, Paul and
Ringo attend a photo shoot in Central Park. George is sick in bed with
the flu.

Mater” episode of NBC's The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air.
1994 – Oasis is forced to cancel their first European tour when they
are deported from Holland after being involved in a drunken brawl on a
cross-channel ferry, resulting in members of the band being arrested
and locked in the brig on the ferry.
1994 – Barry Manilow sues Los Angeles radio station KBIG, seeking $13
million in damages and $15 million in punitive damages for their ad
that people listen to KBIG because it does not play Manilow's music,
causing irreparable damage to his professional reputation.
2001 – Rapper Eminem makes his live UK concert debut at the Manchester
Arena amid protests by 100 gay rights advocates that his lyrics incite
bigotry, and controversy that he took Ecstacy on stage and encouraged
his audience to take the drug as well. Following the concert, police
review tapes of the show to see if he did indeed take drugs while on
stage.
2005 – Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman of The Guess Who are inducted
into the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
2006 – Sly Stone makes a rare appearance at the Grammy Awards for a
tribute to The Family Stone.
2009 – R&B singer/rapper Chris Brown is arrested and charged with two
felonies in the beating of his girlfriend Rihanna in a parked
Lamborghini in Hollywood. The incident forces Brown to drop out of the
Grammy Awards.
2010 – E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg successfully undergoes a
massive 12-hour open heart surgery operation.
2010 – Bassist Dave Ellefson re-joins Megadeth after an eight year
absence due to a financial dispute with leader Dave Mustaine.
2010 – Ringo Starr receives a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
2011 – Robbie Robertson and Jack Scott are inducted into the Canadian
Songwriters Hall of Fame.
