Another simple solution for heating the pool is by covering it with a black
nylon screen (fine mesh) when not in use. I would expect that the sun radiates
energy at about 3kWhr per square meter per day at temperate areas (this figure
is affected by the time of year and location). This works best if the screen is
partly submerged. It has the added benefit of preventing leaves and other
materials to sink to the bottom of the pool.

Although many have commented on Steve Scozzaro idea of harnessing the
pressure of his pool water pump for generating electricity, most of the
replies have been rather technical to a fault.
I think that what Steve needs to understand could be expressed more
effectively with a few well known aphorisms ( Short, sharp, witty saying,
usually making a general observation).
"There is no such thing as a free lunch."
"You are trying to lift yourself up by pulling on your bootstraps"
"You are proposing to rob Jack in order to pay Jill"
May I suggest you circulate some of your return water through a simple solar
panel? This way you will harvest relatively cost free energy.
