I don't know about "atheists" in general, Vam, they/we are such a
disparate group that I wouldn't dream of making any kind of collective
claim at all. (A famous case of herding cats.) For myself, I have
already stated in this thread that I have no ambition whatsoever to
become infallible.
No, my statement was a (slightly) provocative reply to a question from
Craig, which I experienced as both provocative and leading (but then,
Craig's a lawyer, framing questions like this is probably
professionally instinctive for him :-)).
In general, my experience has been that it is rather theists of all
sorts of different persuasions who tend to appropriate truth. After
all, if my god is true, then your god (or lack of god) must be false.
It all reminds ne a bit of a "Peanuts" strip I saw many years ago in
which Lucy was asked if she was ever wrong. "No," she answered
immediately. Then, though, she thought about it a bit and amended her
first statement. "Actually, I was wrong once. I said that I had made a
mistake, but in fact it turned out that I had been right!"
