That's quite a valid point you've made there, Lee. "Duped" does indeed imply a counter belief. To be fair, in my context, I did flesh out how one could be "duped" without questioning whether the Pink Unicorn was a valid context...i.e. Tele-Evangelists for the Pink Unicorn "dupe" old ladies into sending their last dollars in with the promise that the Pink Unicorn will provide riches in return.
