So that's what my mortgage is! I'm going to start referring to my monthly obligation as usury from now on.
It's like Lending Tree commercials say; when banks compete, you win! Problems arise when you have GSE's competing with real businesses. Things get sloppy when politicians intrude in business. Unfortunately, instead of learning from our mistakes, we are moving towards MORE government control. God save us all. Or maybe former Enron adviser Paul Krugman can do it if God doesn't exist. Left of center Dems have been slobbering over his articles for years but I suspect now that he's making sense they will stop hanging on every word. I think it is immoral to expect others to constantly pull your sorry carcass out of the fire. I think it is stupid and immoral for many of our citizens to keep jumping in the fire again and again. A person should be responsible for himself and his family. Providing shelter, food, education and entertainment cost money and the more you have to spend the better these things are. I see nothing immoral about working for money when it clearly benefits everyone including those you work for and the people your company provides with goods or services. I hesitate to call it noble but it certainly isn't immoral. Doing things for personal gain is the only honest way to live your life. I do things all the time because I know loved ones appreciate it and love me back and do stuff for me. I'm selfish to the core. I love the attention. dj On Tue, Apr 7, 2009 at 10:40 PM, Vamadevananda <[email protected]> wrote: > > Is usury ( i.e. exhorbitant interest rates that bind folks to a > lifetime of debt ) moral, Molly ? > > On Apr 7, 7:24 pm, Molly Brogan <[email protected]> wrote: >> I doubt that many people would see loan interest as immoral.
