Here and now, the lie, cleansing of atrocious behavior with magic words of acceptance, is the devious aspect of Christianity. -Tinker
I have felt the same way about Catholic confession. It has been explained to me that God grants forgiveness but man dispenses justice. So while a mass murderer can find spiritual salvation he still gets the needle. I don't think of it as devious; I see it as giving hope to the hopeless. Telling even the most deviant criminal there is a possibility for redemption. There is plenty of documentation of prison ministries getting bad guys to accept responsibility and attempt to lead a better life. It usually doesn't hold when/if they get out but with support of group therapy and frequent contact with a caring priest/preacher they have a better chance then they would otherwise. As far as Unity I don't believe it is possible on a large scale. Too much knowledge and access to different opinions makes conformity impossible. Some people still don't believe in the basic idea of evolution. How is this possible? Even though it has practically been proved and every piece of evidence we find supports natural selection. The ID people annoy me-but that's a discussion for another thread. dj --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups ""Minds Eye"" group.
