Chris, the Mandarin handwriting is on China's wall. In becoming more capitalistic they have triggered their own demise as a dictatorial regime. Capitalism leads naturally to democracy because as people become wealthier and more powerful they want to control their own lives rather than live under a dictatorship. However, I'm in total agreement with your definition of a level playing field. It should include all the basic necessities of life which would then allow people greater freedom to pursue their wants, desires, talents and destiny if it can be said we have such a thing.
