I don't think that a persons relationship with god weighs in at all
when it comes to whether or not healing will take affect. The pope is
said to be the closest to the lord but I don't see that any pope has
ever been spared the ills and diseases that plague mankind. We are
human and all, including the animal kingdom, are subject to sickness
and death, old age and suffering. If there were a compassionate
being that cared we wouldn't be having to suffer. There are some
really beautiful people in the world that go through agonizing pain
and for what purpose, to know pleasure? There is no one on the planet
that does not suffer in one way or another, mentally and physically.
Perhaps you are right that those who have no other recourse in life,
no money or assets to liquidate, must seek help from a higher power in
the hope that a higher power actually exists. So far it looks like we
are on our own.
