I have no idea of the truth about the universe. All I can do is speculate based on what is apparent at the moment inclusive of the knowledge I have acquired in the course of my life.
The universe as postulated by our extremely limited knowledge may be many things and have many qualities, but the only thing I can say about it with any certainty (and very little at that) is that it exists and as far as we know contains what we can perceive with our primitive instruments. Recently there have been two very interesting tv shows about black holes, the latest one being on Nova (PBS) last night. It seems our science has produced evidence that certain things happen near and in a black hole but we have no idea what these things actually are. Given that the nearest black hole may be at the center of our own galaxy, some fifty thousand light years away and blocked from our strongest telescopes by stellar dust, we don't even know for certain that there IS a black hole at the center of our galaxy. In fact, it appears we know more about the possible existence of a black hole at the center of Andromeda which is some 2.5 million light years away only because we can study it as a whole from a distance whereas that perspective is denied us with regard the Milky Way. Of course we can study black holes created (or so we speculate) within our own galaxy by watching stars which have collapsed but these are speculatively mere babies compared to the black hole that may center our own galaxy. Would you, or any of us, given the chance, dare dive into a black hole just to see what's on the other side?
