I agree, our feelings based reactions aren't really conductive to anything besides the concerns more immediate and visceral. But sometimes I wonder if our overactive brains haven't managed to make things too complicated.
I'm not sure I read a 'conditions for existence' discussion, but it does seem that the difference between us and 'animals' are in shades of grey.
