Have you ever been to Petra (the REAL Mt. Sinai)? When the wind
blows hard through the Siq, as it does from time to time, it sounds
like hundreds of trumpets going off all at once. It usually scares
the hell out of tourists who are unaware of the phenomena. The area
is prone to geoplasmic events, as well, as the mountain is made of
arenite sandstone. And arenite sandstone, like carnelian granite, has
the ability to store plasma energy form lightning. The region is
fairly dry usually, but when there are big storms there, there are all
kinds of plasma-related phenomena that occur in the area for days
afterwards. The same thing is true just north of where I live in the
Burton-Dasset Hills because they're made of carnelian granite. The
OLD name for the range was 'The Phoenix Hills' because of the strange
fires that could be found burning there both during and for several
days after big storms. If the plagues of the exodus were due to
Thera's explosion, then there would be plenty of ash and dust and
water thrown up into the atmosphere to cause large storms in the Petra
area even up to 50 days after the explosion. So, there's nothing
particularly unusual in that excerpt whatsoever; especially given the
writing style of the day. Superficially, yes, it sounds bizarre, but
given a proper investigation, the phenomena described would have been
likely following a volcanic explosion the size of Thera's.
