Private schools can serve the same purpose of segregating children from the general public but eventually they will have to engage with all classes so my feeling was it was best that my children learned right off the bat and I think it has proved a good decision though I was a product of mostly private schooling- which little prepared me or others for the "real world". The home is still a major contributor to a child's education via its culture, arts, activities, etc. I tried to start my daughter on the piano with the Suzuki method when she was three or four and gave up- the reward was an M&M for hitting the right notes but I think I would have gone nuts in the meantime.
