Now we are down to basics. For me, as - I would assume - for most
neurotypicals, empathy is an intengral part of our self-understanding/
self-definition. For you, as (again I assume somewhat) for most
autistics, it is not. This is not a statement of value, rather an
observation, based on my (limited) knowledge of the subject and my
even more limited personal experience. On the other hand, I can
neither hear mathematics nor taste astronomy. (I must say I find the
image fascinating and wonderful and thank you for it.)

I tend to think that, as in so many things, there are no firm
divisions between those termed autistic and neurotypical, rather that
it's a matter of degree. That said, I am glad that you chosen to
reveal this fact about yourself as it makes it easier for me to relate
to and understand your posts - but that, of course, is the empathic
aspect of my nature talking :-)
