I'm not sure we know as much as we think we know about other life forms. I think animals and insects perceive oncoming attack and mortal danger- plants respond to sound/music, etc. plus their adaptations are amazing. Many humans first worshipped animals is another point. Now humans worship themselves as they have even humanized their gods.
