My mother was not very maternal- my ties were stronger to my father but he died when I was nearly nine- so I never felt one sex had a monopoly on traits and behavior. The pagan goddesses exhibited a good deal of mischief and power and Greece celebrated the male and female though their society was very restrictive with wives. Christians substituted the Virgin, Mary, as a symbol/inspiration for females and expectation of males- how did that work out? :-)
