Doesn't need to know. Why is the universe so big? One scenario is that all of these possibilities are being played out right now in an almost infinite number of worlds. Each world have similar enough Bio-form to be a blueprint for the next. That's how I would do it if I were playing God. Put them in a jar, shake it up, and see if they fight.
