hmmm, another ac97 eap having problems with aucat.

just out of curiousity, can you try the following:

another thing to try (just as a guess that this has something to do
with block sizes) try starting aucat with 'aucat -l -b 8192'.

Well, that seems to have "fixed" the issue. Sound now plays over aucat. Let me know if there's anymore information you need, or
settings/configurations you want tested.

Then I rebooted the computer with this in /etc/rc.local

nice -n -20 su -m nobody -c "aucat -l -b 8192 &"

When it came back up I had no sound again.  I killed aucat and
restarted it with  aucat -l -b 8832 and still no sound.

I don't know if this makes a difference, but before I rebooted the
computer I noticed that I had three instances of aucat running.  One
I could kill, but the other two I actually had to use

kill -9 <pid>

before they finally terminated.

As I said before, let me know if there's anything else you want me
to try.
