hmmm, another ac97 eap having problems with aucat.
just out of curiousity, can you try the following:
another thing to try (just as a guess that this has something to do
with block sizes) try starting aucat with 'aucat -l -b 8192'.
Well, that seems to have "fixed" the issue. Sound now plays over
aucat. Let me know if there's anymore information you need, or
settings/configurations you want tested.
I don't know if this makes a difference, but before I rebooted the
computer I noticed that I had three instances of aucat running. One
I could kill, but the other two I actually had to use
kill -9 <pid>
before they finally terminated.
It seems that if you have an audio/video/multimedia application
running when you start up aucat in server mode you get a "stopped
input" message and then you have to use "kill -9 <pid>" to kill the
aucat server. Not surpisingly, the application is accessing
/dev/audio and aucat cannot.
I think that I may have done that when I first tested running aucat
as you suggested allowing me to have sound and causing aucat to hang.
