Hi,

Since you're probably not the only person who's relatively new to the
mailing list, I'll explain briefly how the release procedure will
(hopefully) work for 1.6.0.

Before a final 1.6.0 is released, there will be a sequence of "beta"
releases. These are generally not perfect but have all the main
features in place and shouldn't crash in really obvious ways. But if
you're planning a 3 hour set, they probably aren't a good bet. There
will also be a number of semi-official mailing-list only builds for
various purposes such as testing and debugging.

The first 1.6.0 beta (1.6.0-beta1) I would currently estimate at ~1
week for Windows at least.

Garth is right, for Slackware as far as I'm aware, we don't have
anyone building packages. So if you're going to end up building the
source version anyway, you might as well check out SVN now if you
can't wait. And the feedback will be very useful.
