I too am confident that whatever Microsoft named Crossfade in the past
is irrelevant. I can't even find what you are referring to when I search
the web. The only thing I know of that is remotely related and goes by
the name Crossfade are the headphones made by V-MODA, but it is not easy
to confuse headphones with an operating system (although it seems that
many DJs don't understand the difference between a controller and
software...).

This OS exists specifically to be a platform to use Mixxx for those
times when "some[one] breaks something spills drinks or WE do both". As
I wrote before, I am not modifying Mixxx at all on this. This is not a
fork. I do intend on eventually learning C++ and Qt so I can contribute
to Mixxx and then those changes will be available in this live distribution.

Do the Mixxx developers want this to be an official Mixxx project? I
would like it to become one. I am not trying to create a whole new thing
with this distribution; I intend to make a portable platform for Mixxx.
I am including a handful of other applications, namely Clementine,
Midori, Hydrogen, SooperLooper, Giada, and a handful of small desktop
programs from XFCE, but the point of the project is Mixxx. (When Midori
0.6.0 is released using GTK3, that will remove the huge dependency of
gtkwebkit (2) and I'll put Guitarix and Rakarrak on there.) If you do
want this to an officially endorsed Mixxx project, the name "Live Mixxx
GNU/Linux" would make sense.

The background of this project is that my friend volunteered to teach an
electronic music production workshop at Girls Rock! Camp last August. I
tried to get some free music software together that I could put on DVDs
and my friend could give to the girls in the workshop. It's messed up
that my friend couldn't share the software she uses (Ableton) out of
fear that illegally sharing it would not go well with the organization
or the girls' parents. It's messed up that girls' voices are stifled
because they can't afford software to make music. I started from the
development version of the Kickstart file for the Fedora Jam Spin
(https://spins.fedoraproject.org/jam-kde/ ) because Ubuntu Studio's
version of Mixxx (1.10) is outdated. At the time Fedora Jam had not
published a stable release yet. I wouldn't be comfortable giving them
DidJiX because it's not very useful for people not familiar with
GNU/Linux already without a window manager. As I went forward with the
project, I realized I didn't know how most of the software on Fedora Jam
works and neither does my friend, so it would be futile and maybe
counterproductive to give the girls software that is not simple to use
without anyone to teach them. Also, Fedora Jam, Ubuntu Studio, and
KXStudio are already available as comprehensive GNU/Linux distributions
for musicians. I don't need to make another one. So I decided to narrow
the focus to making a live OS for DJing, primarily for putting on USB
drives. In addition to being a great backup system, this live OS can be
a great way to introduce people to free software and to DJing.

release is drastically different than any other from Indamixx Labs in
that were using Yocto and building right on the ARM targets
(ballsy){this yocto thing from Intel is our old Meego plus Tizen were
just familiar with these usual suspects which is funny cuz Intel
listened to Me and Gabe 4 years ago and adopted many of our suggested
ways to handle all this legacy code OS etc etc} what is different than
previous releases is that we are only putting Mixxx on the stick some
custom light guis some forced kernel work adhoc patches for whats broken
then fixes same ol same ol.

Samsung, MONEY SPENT WRONG but spent on the boys LOL) I spent way over
350K trying to make the world better using open source so I am
comfortable writing to you and providing encouragement. First you're
gunna have many changes plus were DJs and the party don't start til we
get there and until some breaks something spills drinks or WE do both LOL.

special. Mixxx has their own goals and milestones that DO NOT sometimes
pair up with my goals. Mixxx sometimes is like restoring an old car its
a labor love that is why we offered the Adopt A DJ and hard money for
dev on Mixxx. I was shocked no one chipped in but they will.

Maybe Im off here or I don't entirely know your scope for your project
but someone did say stay within and it doesnt seem like you're entirely
a real FORK maybe you can stay in the Mixxx lane for dev and for your
installation/OS/distro that takes its course or destiny.

Albert and (geez I think age is catching up to me hehe) are still around.

Might not even matter but I would hate to know that name was heavily
funded and failed and not tell you guys. That isn't how its done in
Seattle where I grew up.
