Ubuntu Studio's version of Mixxx (1.10) is outdated.
Wouldn't it be better to contribute time to Ubuntu Studio to help update their software? I'm not discouraging you at all as I love the idea of Mixxx-specific distros (which is why I added the ones I did to the Mixxx wiki: http://mixxx.org/wiki/doku.php/portable_mixxx#bare_metal.) I am personally interested in getting Mixxx working under Tiny Core Linux as well but have no time to work on that.
As far as naming, someone is already using the term MixxxOS, as linked on that page. (Perhaps the instructions posted there may help with your project?)
In the interest of quality control, I wouldn't want to list it as an official Mixxx project until we have a Mixxx developer working on it. (That could indeed be you once you dig in to Qt and C++ :) )
But definitely link to it on that wiki page at the very least, and when we update the Web site, we should include an additional "Bare metal" item under the OS list.
Excited to see what you come up with! Sincerely, Sean M. Pappalardo "D.J. Pegasus" Mixxx Developer - Controller Specialist
