I totally agree. I absolutely HATED the grand cherokee my family used
to
own. I felt vunerable and unsafe way up there. I feel much safer in my
Jetta, but it just doesn't enough mass in a multi-car accident. If it were
a newer car with better safety design I'd feel more comfortable, but then
it would be so heavy I wouldn't like driving it.
Trucks make me really uncomfortable, and since I personally seem more
prone to single car accidents (as most of us probably are) I'd rather be in
something well designed rather than simply heavy. I think drivers training
in this country is rotten and that someone who gets a license driving a geo
metro in their drivers ed class shouldn't then be allowed to go out and
operate and excursion.

I _still_ don't think that SUVs are useless, though. When I'm rich and
have to tow my racecar AND haul two kids AND a dog I'll be buying a used X5
or AMG ML430 (the ML55? M55?). It'll sit around in the garage when not
being used for towing, though.
