Hey Rob, I did all that work last year when I got my 91 Jetta GTX. I made a list of tips or advice...... -The rear bumpstops may need to be chopped down a bit.
-The Inner Tie-Rod boots are a pain in the ass but if you do them while the control arms are removed it may be a bit easier. You're going to need new pinch-clamps to secure the boots. -Depending on how stiff you like the steering, I installed the control arm bushings 90deg offset from what the manual says. There are 2 kidney bean openings on the control arm bushing that the Bentley says should be facing the sides of the car. But if you shift those kidney bean openings to the front-back of the car it will noticeably stiffen the front control arms (but not as much as poly would). It's a good compromise. -Use lots of anti-sieze -Do you CV boots need to be replaced? It might be a good time to check. -Have a torch handy incase you can't get any stubborn bolts off. Have fun, Mark Reda. ----- Original Message ----- From: "R Blake" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, June 25, 2002 1:35 AM Subject: [A2-16v] Suspension prep > Getting ready to do complete suspension rebuild.
