Thanks for your reply. I'm using James Heisig's "Remembering the Kanji" so I am learning an English keyword and the writing, with plans to learn readings after. That's the problem - I have it checked, and it doesn't. No problem when I import the entire day's batch at once, but I can't import it bit by bit as I am learning and build up a stack of unlearned cards that way. I only get the first bit and the rest of them don't come into my hand until after the first are gone, regardless of any the preferences. This is why I suspect it might be a bug. I'm still using 1.1.1 but I didn't see anything addressed for the 1.2 rel that would help.
